With summer quickly coming to an end, it is time to start preparing for the new school year. It can be overwhelming getting everything ready for your children. We put together five tips for helping to make a successful transition to the new school year.
1. School Supply List
By now most schools have released their supply list. Check your state for a tax-free weekend and load up on everything your kids will need for the new school year. Print the list out and check everything off as you get it, so you know you will not miss anything. Get your kids involved by letting them pick out a fun print for their folders or a cool pencil case that will get them excited to go back to school.
2. Organize Medical Forms & School Paperwork
Schools have varying requirements when it comes to medical forms and paperwork required. Be sure you check with your school on what is required for your child to start. Then begin organizing everything you need now so you won’t be scrambling right before school starts. You may need to schedule last minute doctors appointments to get updated health forms.
3. 1st Day of School Signs, Outfits, and Pictures
Who does not love a good first day of school picture! Have your kids pick out their clothes (if they do not wear a uniform) to make it a fun first day. Craftivity Designs put together a list of great ideas to get that perfect first day of school picture and how to create a first day of school sign!
4. Prepare Yourself & Your Kids
DSM4Kids talks about how you need to be proactive not reactive. “Plans are going to change; alternatives may be unfavorable but necessary and compromise is going to be the new norm.” Prepare yourself and your kids for the upcoming year. Talk through what school will be like and how you will be there to support them along the way. If you’re looking for an educational option with 20+ years of experience that can provide consistency of learning for your student this school year, consider a Stride K12-powered school.
5. Be Organized All Year (Printable Planners)
As the old saying goes, “Organization is the key to success.” Using planners to help keep track of your days and weeks can be a smart tool for you as you move into the new school year. These printable planners are the perfect option to help you keep track of everything. You can fill them out on your computer or print them and fill everything out. There are monthly planners and a daily planner, consider using fun pen colors and letting your kids fill these out themselves!
