Does your child get excited about Shakespeare, score big on essay questions, or relish time to write in a journal? All of these?
We’re inviting all young scribes to do what they love for a chance to win our Splish Splash Poetry Contest in honor of National Poetry Month. The top three winners from each grade will win a prize!
Your child’s excitement for the warmer days ahead and more time in and around water will serve as inspiration to compose their masterpiece. The sound, smell, or feel of water can be their guide to craft a haiku, cinquain, limerick, ballad, sonnet, free verse, or any other style they desire.
Perhaps they look forward to spending time fishing, snorkeling, or having water balloon fights this summer? Or maybe they’re a pro at singing in the shower? It’s time to wax poetic about water!
Entries will be accepted through our “What’s Your Story?” page along with their photo or a video of them reading it. All entries must be received no later than 5 p.m. EST on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Entries submitted after the deadline will not be eligible for prizes.
