Back to School: Super Snack Ideas

We’ve talked about ways to keep meal planning simple this back to school season. To wrap up the topic of meals, we’ve put together simple snack ideas. We often hear that snacking isn’t good for you, but when done in a healthy way, snacking can actually keep kids alert. Moderation is key and keeping sugar to a minimum is a must.

If you’re an online or homeschool family, you have the benefit of flexible snack times. However, be sure they’re not too close to mealtimes to avoid hearing, “I’m not hungry,” when it’s time for lunch or dinner.

Here are a few good snack ideas for school days:

Blueberries contain antioxidants, which can help improve your memory, and they’re delicious.  They’re great for breakfast but can also work well as a snack. Check out this fun and easy spin on this brain fruit from Family Fresh Meals,  which recommends adding Greek yogurt (another food with several health benefits).

My favorite thing to do is to go picnic style and put a little bit of everything on a plate. Cheese slices, applesauce, veggies, and nuts are all easy go-to snacks that are smart for kids of all ages.
