The publisher of beloved and best-selling author, Harper Lee, has announced plans for Lee’s second novel to be released in July. Go Set a Watchman was recently discovered by her friend and lawyer, Tonja Carter, having been completed in the 1950s.
Set in the same town as To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout Finch returns to Maycomb, Alabama, to visit her father, Atticus. Although the book is a sequel and takes place 20 years after To Kill a Mockingbird, Lee wrote Go Set a Watchman first. In 1960, Lee’s editor was so impressed by Scout’s childhood flashbacks, and insisted she write a different novel from Scout’s perspective. More than 50 years later, To Kill a Mockingbird has sold more than 40 million copies in more than 40 languages.
Plans to print two million copies of Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee is set for a July 14 release date. Pre-orders are available at Barnes & Noble and Amazon.
